  • The Kent Police site has full details of the Kent Police Authority, including local police stations and officers. The neighbourhood PC is Neil Ingram. The phone number for the local neighbourhood police is 01732 379361, and they also have an email address. There is a 'post box' inside the Leigh village shop for information for the police, which is picked up by the Leigh Special Constable, Graham Eade.
  • The Hildenborough Medical Centre site contails details of the General Practiconer medical services available to people living in Leigh and surrounding areas.
  • The NHS Trust site includes information about local hospitals and other health services.

Local Schools

  • The Leigh Primary School site is maintained by the pupils of the village school. It includes examples of the pupils work; information for parents, prospective parents, and governors; and activities of the Parents & Teachers Association.
  • The Hayesbrook School site gives an overview of the secondary age Performing Arts College in Tonbridge.

  • The Hugh Christie Technology College site provides lots of information and resources for pupils and parents of the secondary age Technology College in Tonbridge.

  • The Central Railway site contains their proposals to use the railway line through Leigh as part of their plan to carry lorries through the tunnel and further north.
  • The National Central Rail Action Group site contains the arguments against the Central Railways proposal.
  • The EuroRail Freight Route site contains the proposals to establish a new Freight Rail network throught the Channel Tunnel. This appears to have taken over from the Central Railways proposal ... and is not routed past Leigh.

  • The Chiddingstone Castle site includes infomation about this local Tudor castle, when it can be visited, and the other facilities available.
  • The Mark Horrel site contains pictures of a walk from Leigh to Penshurst to Speldhurst.
  • The Leigh Barrier part of the Environment Agency site enables a PDF document to be downloaded with many details of the barrier, built to control the water flowing down the Medway so that Tonbridge is not flooded.

  • The KCC Public Rights of Way page shows a map of Leigh with all the local footpaths, and indicates which are Public Rights of Way.

Local Pubs and Restaurants

  • The Bat and Ball is in the centre of the Leigh village main street, next to the village stores and Post Office. As well as a selection of Beers, there is food, Sky TV and a garden.
  • The Plough Inn is towards Powder Mills, dating from about 1570. You can eat and drink in the bar, or the gardens. There is also a large barn which caters for parties. Note this site may not work using the FireFox browser?
  • The Leicester Arms at Penshurst has existed since 1861, and provides accommodation and restaurant facilities as well as the expected village pub with bar snacks.
  • The Wheatsheaf at Bough Beech dates from the 14th century, and you can eat and drink in its attractive bars.
  • The Bottle House near Penshurst dates from about 1492, and there are details of the eating and drinking facilities available.
