Community Infrastructure Levy

The Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) allows local authorities to secure funding for infrastructure to support development in their area. This is done by requiring developers to pay a standard charge per square meter (m2) of qualifying new development. The charge that we expect for development across the District is laid out in Sevenoaks District Council’s CIL Charging Schedule. A copy of this can be found on the Sevenoaks Council website:

CIL is proposed to help pay for things such as schools, health facilities and transport improvements - all infrastructure projects that are necessary to support new development.
